The surge of so many tablets, androids, reading devices etc. make me wonder whether ten years down the line we will be using paper or rather e-paper. It is only logical that as telegrams, telephones, pagers, mobiles, PC's, laptops, smart phones, androids, tablets... replaced each other in the order of their occurrence, that in the near future our kids will make use of touch pads/tablets to study rather than pen and paper. Can we call it a revolution?
Classic paper lovers like me (not that I do not like the concept of ebooks) believe that reading devices or tablets will only lead to strained eyes from a very young age for one and all. At mid twenties I feel my eyes straining from the constant visual barrage and information overload. Though literally speaking technology is supposed to simplify life, it is in actual sesnse making it that much more complicated. How many people will confess to their hard copy books being stolen? In contrast our hi-tech gadgets are always a lure for the thieves. Besides they are a treasure trove of personal information. They can simply provide the holder valuable information about your likes/dislike, work and other sensitive personal information. Not to forget uncle Sam can always poke his dirty nose when needed to get to you.
So all in all, how good is a device which can give you away, strain your eyes (to die an early death), cause a lot of toxic waste especially when you throw away your old devices/batteries etc.? How good is all this in contrast to our good old hard books? Am a techno lover but also love the classic styles. It is time that will tell if I stay loyal to the good old days or switch over to the dark side!!!
