Attention Attention!!!

Lets begin where we left last time. So, do you really think the attitude of being positive always can help you to get your message through to other people. My honest answer would be a yes and a no. Yes because if you have the will, you'll surely achieve what you want and no because its not always in your hand(simply put).

Hmmmm, we all know how exactly a toddler grabs the attention of the elders in its vicinity. It inadvertently cries out LOUD. So, as adults what would you think of a person crying loud to make his statement heard. Am sure you would be least bothered and ask them to cry on some others' shoulder. Other means of doing the same include dialogue or rather a negotiation with the higher authority. When all else fails Mahatma Gandhi's Satyagraha comes in handy. I have a high level of respect for the great Mahatma but the way his teachings have been maligned over the passing years alarms me.

To protest for a noble cause without affecting the common people and on the other hand resorting to protest every time your demands are not met ( with little or no concern for the public at large) is in fact a gross misinterpretation of satyagraha in general.

So, what would you call a modern day satyagraha/protest? I would rather call it an attention seeking gimmick by people who wish to get their desires fulfilled. I mean, don't you think it has become quiet common to hear of different protests undertaken by people in general to get their wishes fulfilled by the government. You've doctors, pharmaceutics shop owners, fuel station owners, taxi unions, professors, lawyers etc. going on strike every other day. It feels like they are shouting 'Attention Attention!!!' to the government and the masses at large about their dissatisfaction and demands. At the end of the day who are the real losers or the people most affected by it? Obviously the common man. There are so many instances of people dying due to medical neglect as it is and on such occasions the no. of cases just shoot up. In order to make government or authorities realize their situation people are ready to make matters worse for the other people around them.

These are hardly the teaching of the great Mahatma. It actually feels like people are using a potential tool in a very gross manner. So, whom should you blame, the protesters, the government or the indifferent authorities?

All are to blame or none. For every one his/her problems are more important than those of others. But, how would you solve such a problem. The problem actually signifies the similarities between a small child trying to grab the attention of its elders. If you observe carefully and match the references you will be able to make the inferences to which I'm referring.

So the question again arises whether we have really grown up or not?
